Brian Pickens

Born and raised in West Virginia, Brian is a local illustrator, graphic designer, and muralist. He bought a keg of Halleck Pale Ale from Bill Rittenour in the parking lot of Black Bear back in 2014 – and the rest is history. For more than eight years, Brian has been the artist behind our logo and all of our beer labels. His bright colors and bold designs always reflect the fun, funk, and flavor of our beers.

Hoppy Kercheval and 3 Guys Before the Game

He was Hoppy before being Hoppy was cool! We're thrilled to partner with WV radio legend Hoppy Kercheval on our dry-hopped ‘Appalachian Pilsner’ called Kerchev-Ale.  It’s a traditional, crisp, clean pilsner malt bill paired with a contemporary hop bill, boasting citrus, floral, and fruity aromas and flavors. We're delivering this custom beer throughout the state, with the occasional stop at the Flatwoods Citgo to sample the fly fisherman Slim Jims.

Scott Frederick

Call him a craftsman, carpenter, or salvage savant. Scott Frederick, Morgantown native and owner of Premium Weathered, answers to any and all of those titles. Scott has been instrumental in helping us bring a rustic authenticity to our brewery. His artistry and limitless knowledge of wood helps Chestnut Brew Works pay homage to our West Virginia roots.

Mike Kashon

Mike Kashon is a Morgantown-based woodworker who has been crafting our carved tap handles for years. He sources some of our handles from the towering Chinese chestnut in his front yard and others from reclaimed wood. Mike also has a killer woodshop with lots of fancy equipment.
